The Eda necklace is made from wire and pearls by a group of Anatolian women with whom Karawan has created the Oya jewellery collection. This graphic choker is both simple and sophisticated.

OYA lace is made by the village women of Anatolia, using very fine needlework and a thread embellished with pearls to highlight the motifs. A floral design that celebrates the eternal feminine!

Oya lace jewellery is the result of a combination of traditional Turkish lacemaking and the traveller's eye of Christine Delpal, designer of the Karawan brand. Meeting Hanifa and her sisters, villagers from Anatolia, was an obvious choice. It was a shared desire to pass on and support the professionalisation of exceptional traditional women's skills, which are often too restricted to the domestic sphere.

‘Oya’ is a traditional form of Ottoman lace from Anatolia. It is made using needlework or crochet, with intricate patterns often embellished with pearls.
