Yak butter pots

Antique turned wooden milk or yak butter pots, each one is a unique piece that was once a customary object in Nepal. Long used by villagers in the Himalayan mountains to store and transport ghee butter, they have now been replaced by metal pots.

TIMBER

The traditional drink of Tibet and Nepal is made from Pu'erh tea, to which yak butter and salt are added. This tea, known as Tibetan tea, is served throughout the day to refresh and hydrate at altitude. The yak butter pot is thus an everyday object, passed from hand to hand.
