Silver jewellery - Kokaz

The Kokaz silver jewellery collection is the fruit of local know-how from the plateaux of Eastern Anatolia. It is expressed through the art of weaving and basketry in 925 silver wire. In collaboration with master craftswoman Nahide, Karawan has created a line of bracelets for men and women. With a strong, authentic character, they are hand-worked by a group of women.

KOKAZ

Christine Delpal created the Kokaz silver jewellery collection with Nahide, a master jeweller working to promote employment for women, for a collective in Eastern Turkey. Deeply involved in passing on the cultural and craft heritage of her region, she trains women jewellers in silver wire weaving and basketry.

The art of basketry

This art requires a high degree of skill and patience, making each piece unique. The barcelets are made up of interlacing and knots worked by hand with a 925/1000 carat silver wire with a fineness of 0.08 microns (that of a human hair). This silver wire is itself wound around an extremely fine silk thread, enabling the pure silver to be woven, making the jewellery flexible and extremely strong.

Precious links in silver wire, intertwined and knotted, to give to those who matter, those you care about. An ethical and sustainable gift.

Woven silver jewellery

Depending on the model, the silver wire is oxidised to create a black finish that complements the silver colour. These bracelets are as masculine as they are feminine, with a contemporary style. The interlacing highlights the fine silver wire, which is crossed and wound to create unique designs. Double braid, round braid, three knots or black knots, each model highlights this unique touch, combining craftsmanship and creativity.
