Karawan's Aleppo soaps: committed to traceability for 20 years
The Karawan brand was founded in 2004 on its flagship product: Aleppo soap. Since then, we have worked with our soap-making partner from Aleppo in Syria to produce high-quality soaps. Our know-how is based on our ability to select noble olive and laurel oils, combined with our partner's in-depth knowledge of saponification methods. This essential link enables us to create exclusive natural forms and fragrances, a far cry from industrial formulations.
Olive and laurel Aleppo soaps
Our Aleppo soaps stand out thanks to their exclusive composition of noble olive oils and bay laurel. These soaps, handmade in our traditional cauldrons, benefit from a precise dosage of these ingredients. A range with moisturising and soothing properties, suitable for daily use on the body, face and hands.
Scented
Aleppo soaps
Our scented Aleppo soaps promise an olfactory journey, enriching your skincare routine with exquisite scents. Thanks to our collaboration with the Grasse perfumery, these soaps combine the ancestral know-how of Aleppo with the subtle and renowned art of French perfumes. Asmaa, Jenjis, Iskendar... Notes that evoke sensory stopovers along the Silk Roads.

Liquid
Aleppo soaps
Karawan's organic liquid Aleppo soaps are a natural, traditional and authentic alternative to shower gels. Made in France using the age-old method of saponifying olive and laurel oils, our certified organic soaps guarantee rigorous traceability of ingredients, so you can be sure of receiving the delicate care your skin needs.
Aleppo Soap
Aleppo (Syria) is a city renowned for its long tradition of natural soap production. Since ancient times, the region has been dedicated to olive growing. The first-pressed oil is reserved for food use, while the second-pressed oil is used for soap. During the Crusades, this age-old know-how inspired the manufacture of Marseille soap, which gradually replaced part of the olive with palm oil. The original quality of Aleppo soap, free from palm oil, lives on in our Aleppo soaps.
The story of a legacy
Our strong and loyal relationship has allowed us to maintain the quality of our soaps despite the conflict in Syria since 2011. By supporting the families of our soapmakers, who are now settled in Turkey, just 60 km from the border, we remain true to our values by fostering a local artisanal economy. At the same time, we continue to innovate and enrich this heritage.
"The maximum concentration of active plant ingredients, fatty acids and glycerine, naturally contained in the oils, for incomparable virtues. It's a soap that washes as well as nourishes the skin."
An authentic production
After the olive harvest, whole olive and laurel oils are blended in varying proportions and cooked in cauldrons. Once the paste has been saponified with soda from sea salt, it is poured into large sheets, then cooled and cut by hand. Stored in the vaults of the soap factory, the soaps dry for 9 months. Today, our partner has secured production and transport, enabling the Aleppines to remain close to their families, by moving its team to a factory in Turkey, 70 km north of Aleppo. The same climatic conditions favourable to the maturing of the soap also ensure the same quality.
