Our cushions are hand-woven from nettle fibre on one side and silt silk on the other. Their herringbone pattern is reminiscent of English tweed. Enhanced with wild silk piping in fluorescent colours, they match any other cushion, bringing out the best in other styles and decors. The lined cover includes a zip. Supplied without upholstery.
This line of cushions was created in cooperation with a local micro-development programme in Uttarakhand, a state in northern India. Wild nettles, which can grow up to 2.5 m high, are collected and boiled to extract the fibre, which is then spun and woven. A manual process that generates income for Himalayan communities.
